Did you know that sleep deprivation compounds the issue of chronic pain? It also impacts cognitive and physical function (Coren 2009; Ohayon et al., 2004). The optimal hours of REM sleep is 8-10 hours, anything less can cause, injury, illness, heart disease, high blood pressure, fatigue, anxiety depression, insomnia which all contribute to chronic pain (National Sleep Foundation, 2013).
